Billboard Art

On Friday, March 23, Ladder 36/C shift gave10th grade Bowie High School art student Julia Lund a "lift" on south Lamar to sign her artwork, which will appear on 10 billboards throughout the city to promote April as AISD's Youth Art Month. We received several phone calls thanking AFD for participating in the event, so thanks to the crew for demonstrating how our mission goes beyond our name!

Austin Library READ Poster

Our very own FF Xochitl Hernandez has been chosen to be the "face" of the 2012 Austin Library's READ poster, which you'll see all over town beginning April 1. The photo shoot took place earlier this week and here's a couple of test shots we took so you can get an idea of how great this is going to look. Special thanks to the C shift crew at Station 4 who let us take over the truck bay for a while, and to Melanie Liner, who works in Support Services, and her husband, Ben (PFF, Q35/A) who were willing to have their very adorable Dalmatian, Royal, be part of the shoot!
